  • Sophia Airhart, MD, FACC, is an advanced heart failure and transplant cardiologist specializing in pulmonary hypertension, right ventricular failure, invasive hemodynamics, cardiogenic shock, and mechanical circulatory support. She is an Associate Professor of Medicine at UMass Chan Medical School–Baystate, where she serves as Director of the Pulmonary Hypertension Program and Regional Medical Director of Heart Failure at Baystate Health. She also practices as a part-time attending physician in advanced heart failure and transplant cardiology at Beth Israel Deaconess Medical Center.

    Dr. Airhart’s work focuses on improving the diagnosis and management of pulmonary vascular disease and advanced heart failure through multidisciplinary clinical programs, hemodynamic assessment, education, and research. She serves as an Associate Editor for Circulation: Heart Failure and contributes to national guideline and scientific statement initiatives through the American Thoracic Society and Heart Failure Society of America. Her academic interests include right ventricular adaptation and failure, pulmonary hypertension associated with left-heart disease, remote hemodynamic monitoring, and mechanical circulatory support
