Dr. Susarla earned his MD from Harvard Medical School and his DMD from the Harvard School of Dental Medicine. He completed his residencies in Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic Surgery at Massachusetts General Hospital and Johns Hopkins University/University of Maryland, respectively. He further advanced his training with a fellowship in pediatric and adult Craniomaxillofacial Surgery at Seattle Children's Hospital and the University of Washington Harborview Medical Center.
Dr. Susarla is experienced in areas such as craniosynostosis, craniomaxillofacial reconstruction, orthognathic surgery, and facial trauma management. He has contributed to over 250 peer-reviewed publications and several dozen book chapters. He has given over 100 lectures nationally and internationally on pediatric and adult craniomaxillofacial reconstruction and serves on the editorial boards of the Journal of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery and Plastic and Reconstructive Surgery.
He is board certified in both Plastic Surgery and Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery.
