Summary
- Originally I began my career intent on becoming a generalist orthopedic surgeon, specifically to practice in underserved Hispanic communities in the Valley (South Texas), where my family has deep roots. Once I entered medical school, I quickly realized that I could take a more non-traditional path, and strive to enact scalable change and accelerate practical innovations to a population beyond the clinic.
I took a leave from medical school to train at the Biodesign Medical Device Innovation Program at the Texas Medical Center, where I learned startup business basics and saw that combining business and medicine, I could work towards a path of becoming a physician-leader. My partners and I spun out TYBR Health, a medical device company, where I gained experience in product lifecycle leadership, product management, technical business development, and market research. I scrutinize processes and foster change management in an effort to bring more efficiency and productivity in everything I do, focusing on evidence, results, and outcomes.
Throughout my experiences, I enjoy working with teams and key stakeholders to ensure products are designed human-first, with the best practices and patient and/or client needs as the top priority.
