He earned his MD and subsequently completed pathology residency training at the University of Cincinnati, followed by additional subspecialized training as a surgical pathology fellow at Brigham and Women's Hospital/Harvard Medical School. Dr. Gilday also holds a PhD in biomedical engineering which he earned via the NIH-funded Medical Scientist Training Program at the University of Cincinnati. His doctorate research was focused on musculoskeletal biology, biomechanics, and orthopaedic tissue engineering.
