She completed her medical degree at Boston University School of Medicine in 1987, orthopedic residency at SUNY Downstate Health Sciences University, and pediatric orthopedic fellowship at Case Western Reserve University. Dr. Scherl has held professorial roles at Nebraska Medicine - Nebraska Medical Center since 2002 and previously at the University of Chicago Division of the Biological Sciences The Pritzker School of Medicine from 1995 to 2002. Her published works include research on orthopedic aspects of child abuse, pediatric orthopedic trauma, medical student and resident education and socialization. She is recognized as a Fellow of the American Academy of Orthopedics and as a Fellow of the American Academy of Pediatrics.
