- Dr. McQuaid began his career as a virologist working in anti-viral drug discovery. in 1996, after loosing his partner to AIDS, and witnessing the lack of informed care he received. He was motivated to make a difference for patients dealing with chronic viral infections. From there, he made the decision to become a primary care provider and became a nurse practitioner. He then pursued his doctorate in nursing practice specializing in the care of men who have sex with men. He has been practicing for over 20 years and published in both medical and scientific literature on chronic viral infections, their pathogenesis and treatment, and the behavior of anti-viral drugs. In his spare time, Tom spends time at his beach cottage in Provincetown MA, weightlifting, reading, watching movies, and hanging with his Bullmastiff, Chaos.
