- Dr. Thomas Sutula is a neurologist based in Madison, WI, with subspecialty expertise in epilepsy. He completed his medical education at the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and pursued residencies in Internal Medicine at Washington University/B-JH/SLCH Consortium and Neurology at the University of Virginia Medical Center. Dr. Sutula has authored more than 100 publications with a major focus on understanding how activity-dependent plasticity in neural circuits and metabolism influence epilepsy. He has served as President of the American Epilepsy Society (AES) and the American Society of Experimental Neural Therapeutics (ASENT). His work has been recognized with awards including the Founders (William Lennox) Award from the American Epilepsy Society, the Clarence Shaffrey Award from St. Joseph's University. He is co-founder and and Chief Scientific Officer of Hexokine Therapeutics Inc. which is developing metabolic approaches to treatment of seizures and traumatic brain injury.
