  • Dr. Timir Paul is an Professor of Medicine and Program Director for Cardiology Fellowship at University of Tennessee at Nashville/St Thomas Hospital. After receiving MD, he was awarded Ph.D. and MPH in Cardiovascular Epidemiology by Tulane University, USA. He served as Founding Co-Director of the Center for Cardiovascular Risk Research at East Tennessee State University. He has authored more than 200 publications. He serves as an academic editor for PLOS ONE Journal and on the Editorial Board for JSCAI, Catheterization and Cardiovascular Intervention, Cardiovascular Revascularization Medicine, and Heart International. His research and recommendations changed the ACC/AHA 2021 and ESC 2018 guidelines on myocardial revascularization by downgrading embolic protection device in SVG intervention from Class I to Class IIa. His research interests include vein graft interventions, embolic protection devices in coronary and peripheral interventions, subclinical atherosclerosis, peripheral arterial diseases and renal artery interventions. He received PCORI and AHRQ grants as a co-investigator. He was selected as SCAI-ELM Program Circle member and received Young Leadership recognition by CRT meeting. He is selected as future leader with the ACC 2022 and 2023 Leadership Forum. He received best teaching award given by cardiology fellows for the 4 consecutive years. He was inducted by Alpha Omega Alpha Medical Honor Society as a faculty in 2018. He received Dean’s distinguished research award in 2019. He is an ad hoc reviewer for American Heart Association’s grant and abstracts for AHA, ACC, and CRT scientific meetings. He is an invited faculty for several scientific conferences including SCAI, AHA, ACC and CRT.
