• Valerie Smith is from Plano, Texas, and graduated from Liberty University with a Master of Science in Biomedical Science and obtained a Bachelor of Science in Biology at East Texas Baptist University. She is a medical student at William Carey University College of Osteopathic Medicine and is expected to graduate as part of the class of 2025. Since childhood, Valerie has been interested in medicine, and enjoyed shadowing a local pediatrician in undergrad. During this experience, she began to recognize the interplay between the responsibility of a physician and the mutual trust between physician and patient. Valerie wants to become a physician to establish long-term relationships with patients caring for their body, mind, and spirit. In Hattiesburg, she has enjoyed volunteering at PediaTrust, a daycare for medically fragile children, with Arts in Medicine to help children improve their physical dexterity through arts and crafts. Her hobbies include opera, history, and her two dogs.
