Vanessa Blumer MD

• Dr. Blumer is board-certified in Advanced Heart Failure and Transplant Cardiology and devotes the majority of her practice to the care of patients with advanced heart failure, cardiogenic shock, cardiac transplantation, and mechanical circulatory support. She holds leadership appointments as Associate Director of Heart Failure Research and Associate Program Director of the Cardiology Fellowship Program and also serves as Principal Investigator of the Inova Cardiogenic Shock Registry. Her academic output is exceptional, with more than 110 peer-reviewed publications, alongside contributions to scientific statements, clinical guidelines, and expert consensus papers. Dr. Blumer's academic career started at Universidad Central de Venezuela, where she received her Medical Degree, earning an honorific distinction in research. She completed her Internal Medicine Residency and served as a Chief Resident at the University of Miami-Jackson Memorial Hospital, where she received the annual Research Award. Subsequently, she pursued a Cardiovascular Disease Fellowship and a one-year Cardiovascular Research Fellowship at Duke University Medical Center and Duke Clinical Research Institute (DCRI).
