Summary

  • I am a Medical Director of Neonatal ICU at Cohen Children’s Medical Center, Northwell Health in Long Island, NY as well as an Associate Director of Northwell Neonatal Services. I also serve as founder and director of Neonatal Wound Service, a unique regional service, one of the very few in the country. Northwell Health comprises 28 hospitals with 10 providing newborn services, more than 40,000 births per year, and more than 8,000 NICU admissions per year. CCMC is a level 4 regional perinatal 57-bed unit, part of a free-standing children’s hospital with yearly NICU admissions of 1800.
As an administrator I am a Certified Physician Executive via American Association for Physician Leadership.
I am a graduate of University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill Medical School. I trained in pediatrics at the Schneider Children’s Hospital at NS and completed neonatal-perinatal medicine training at Schneider Children’s Hospital, NS-LIJ System. I am certified by American Board of Wound Healing as Certified Wound Specialist Physician. I am an Associate Professor of Pediatrics at Hofstra University Medical School and a fellow of AAP and American Board of Wound Healing.
My research interests include respiratory management, wound healing/ skin integrity, and neonatal nutrition. As a member of Society for Pediatric Research I often present via national and international forums. Other memberships include Association of the Advancement of Wound Care and American Professional Wound Care Association. I have been a board member of International Society of Pediatric Wound Care since 2019 and promote awareness of pediatric cutaneous care.
I have certification in ICD10 medical coding/billing, which led me to a partnership with the hospital’s revenue and coding departments. In 2017, I was elected to the national Editorial Board of the Committee on Coding and Nomenclature of the American Academy of Pediatrics. I have developed and given national webinars on the subject.
