• Dr. William Prendergast III, MD is a Portland, OR-based Ophthalmologist. His educational journey began at Oregon Health and Science University School of Medicine where he completed his medical degree in 1967. Following this, he completed a rotating internship at the Los Angeles County-Harbor-UCLA Medical Center from 1967 to 1968. He then obtained a commission in the US Public Health Service and served as a general medical and surgical staff physician at the USPHS Galveston Marine Hospital. Then he completed an ophthalmology residency at the Oregon Health & Science University from 1970 to 1973. In 1973 he began private practice in Portland, OR. He served as an Asst. Clinical Professor on the Ophthalmology faculty at OHSU. Between 1990 and 2010 he served multiple volunteer rotations as an eye surgeon at hospitals for the underserved in Oaxaca, Mexico and Nuevo Progreso, Guatemala. Known for his contributions to medicine and healthcare, he has been recognized by Marquis Who’s Who in Medicine and Healthcare. As of 2010 he is fully retired from the practice of medicine.
