The Anesthesiology Residency at Mayo Clinic in Arizona provides an outstanding clinical anesthesia experience that can be tailored to meet individual educational goals. You receive thorough preparation for board certification in anesthesiology, extensive didactic training, subspecialty anesthesiology training, and clinical and laboratory research opportunities. Along with the growth of the institution, the residency has expanded to include up to five residents per class with a close-knit, collegial, and supportive culture. Select highlights of the program include: -A small program size that allows program leaders to take a very individualized approach to your education -A robust curriculum including options to rotate at other Mayo Clinic campuses and and ample research time -Our practice model facilitates a flexible, humane call schedule -Residents' schedules, along with program and institutional support, allow you to have a very healthy work-life balance The Anesthesiology Residency offers four categorical positions, which combine a one-year Transitional Year Residency (PGY-1) with a three-year Anesthesiology Residency (PGY-2 through PGY-4). There is not a separate application for the preliminary year. The Anesthesiology Residency will also offer one advanced position (PGY-2 through PGY-4) for candidates who choose to complete their internship elsewhere. To complement Mayo Clinic's Anesthesiology Residency, a one-year accredited fellowship in pain medicine is available at the completion of the residency program.
