The Rutgers NJMS Neurology Residency prepares physicians for successful careers in academic and clinical neurology. Residents develop medical competence in treating stroke at a primary stroke center, epilepsy, multiple sclerosis, headaches, neurodegenerative diseases, movement disorders, and neuromuscular diseases in diverse populations at both the University Hospital and Veterans Affairs Hospital. Our residents value teaching medical students and receive numerous teaching awards annually. The residency-training schedule allows for early research and elective exposure, fostering prompt development of a broad knowledge base. Full-time academic neurologists teach residents in the inpatient and outpatient settings. Faculty are approachable and supportive of resident academic development and wellness. We offer daily academic lectures, weekly Chief of service and grand rounds presentations, and bimonthly neuropathology conferences. We have a 100% first time boards passing rate since 2013. Since 2013, 96% of graduates completed fellowships; and 40% of graduates have remained in academic medicine after completion of fellowship.
