The UPMC Pittsburgh Department of Otolaryngology has a long history of providing superb and broad patient care and residency training. The Department's faculty and residents make full use of the primary Presbyterian-Shadyside tertiary care hospitals as well as robust community, VA and dedicated Children's Hospital. Each aspect of necessary ENT training including allergy, head and neck oncology, microvascular reconstruction, otology, plastics, rhinology and voice are excellently represented. The residency offers an optional one year research experience following the third year of residency training. The Department has a 100% pass rate of the board exam over the past 10 years, and the majority of residents do fellowships after completion. The Department has a unique Capstone Course during the final month of training to allow for personal finishing touches to the residency.
