The Anesthesiology Residency offers a three-year advanced program and a four-year categorical program. In the three-year advanced program, the one year is dedicated to subspecialty rotations such as obstetrics, neuroanesthesia, cardiovascular, thoracic, regional, pediatric anesthesia, critical care medicine and pain management. Our four-year categorical program comprises one year of non-anesthesia clinical training prior to starting three years of clinical anesthesia training. The Department of Anesthesiology residency training program provides the opportunity for outstanding clinical anesthesiology training in a large academic medical center comprising a Level 1 trauma center; Level 1 burn center; and heart, cancer and brain/spine subspecialty hospitals. We have a state-of-the-art medical simulation center that is embedded into our curriculum. From cardiothoracic, neurosurgical, pediatric, obstetric and regional anesthesia to pain management and critical care, those who train at Ohio State will find themselves equipped with the tools necessary to excel in the most complex of cases.
