The Pediatric Residency Program at the University of Illinois College of Medicine Peoria is located at the Children’s Hospital of Illinois — the third largest children’s hospital in Illinois. Our program has a long standing tradition, since 1958, of excellence in pediatric education. In such a large referral center, you will experience both primary and tertiary care in pediatric medicine. Our program is an excellent blend of a strong curriculum, outstanding training in all aspects of pediatrics, and exponential academic growth. We will help develop you into an outstanding Pediatrician or a Pediatric Sub-specialist. This training is weaved into a close-knit program with a personal touch. We have a state-of-the-art simulation center where residents get hands-on experience in using high fidelity simulation. Our faculty is committed to high quality education and our program size fosters a collegial and friendly work atmosphere. Our residents have many wellness resources offered to them for free, such as the CBCT® (Cognitively Based Compassion Training) course, C.E.B (Cultivating Emotional Balance) and B.R.E.A.T.H.E (Bringing Resilience and Emotional Awareness To Healthcare Education), the SAFER series for sleep education, wellness hours, residency retreats, resident golf outings, holiday parties, socials, Les Mills classes, gym membership-just to name a few. We have a strong advocacy, board review and career mentorship program built into the curriculum. The residents have access to free on-site counselling through the Clinician care program.
