The University of Iowa Department of Urology is the second oldest urology department in the US. Enthusiastic and approachable faculty perform complex procedures across all specialty areas, ensuring a comprehensive and high-volume surgical education. In addition to a diverse clinical experience at the main campus, residents train at multiple off-site locations including the VA, free-standing pediatrics hospital, and private practice setting. As part of the university campus, there are multiple opportunities to collaborate with clinicians and scientists in a wide range of fields. Our strong didactic program and robust surgical simulation opportunities, including porcine and cadaver labs as well as a state-of-the-art simulation center, provide further educational opportunities. With 3 residents per year, there is a strong sense of camaraderie and team spirit throughout the program. Residents enjoy living in a moderate-sized college town with the amenities of a much larger city.
