Welcome to our general surgery residency page. Our mission is to provide our residents access to the broad range of academics, research, and surgical training necessary for the training of competent general surgeons. Our program currently accepts four categorical residents and three preliminary residents per year. Residents have a blended experience of training with full-time OU faculty and OU Clinical faculty in private practice. Participation in clinical research is encouraged. Our program is known for graduating residents who can operate with confidence and competence. Recent graduates have successfully matched into competitive fellowships or entered directly into general surgery practice. Approximately half pursue fellowships, and half practice general surgery in community practice. Our residents are our best advertisement and a visit with them will show you why you should consider our residency program for your surgical training. We invite your interest!
