Anesthesiology Residency Program · Kansas City, KS
At the University of Kansas Department of Anesthesia residency program our departmental vision is to be one of the premier academic anesthesiology and perioperative medicine programs in the country. We are constantly striving to deliver the highest quality care during all perioperative phases including the OR's, ICU's and the pain clinics. We place the emphasis of resident education on quality, patient safety, performance improvement, professionalism and compassionate care. We are committed to training the next generation of leaders in the specialty of Anesthesia at KU. Our residency program is dynamic and designed to teach our residents to be life long learners. Residents benefit from complex cases but their experience is not limited to OR work alone. Our program has a robust didactic curriculum in aspects of anesthesiology starting in the clinical base year. Our residents engage in simulation experiences, cadaver ultrasound workshops, ECHO reading and mock oral exams. We have both written and oral board prep classes in addition to thought provoking journal clubs as well as resident participation in many departmental committees and conferences. Our biggest strength lies within the residents who are in the program and the faculty encouraging them to excel. There is a family like atmosphere here at KUMC. Our residents are not only excellent physicians in the hospital but good friends outside of work. A supportive learning environment, vast clinical experience, strong didactics and a patient centered mission are but a few reasons why the residents at KUMC graduate as consults in Anesthesia, not technicians.
