  • Dr. Williams is a Professor of Medicine in the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine and faculty in the Division of Hypertension and Nephrology. Dr. Williams is the Medical Director of Hospital Operations, chair of the Hospital Practice Committee, and a member of the Executive Operations Team, responsible for oversight of Mayo Clinic Rochester and in the Midwest and accountable to the Mayo Clinic president/CEO and the Mayo Clinic staff. Dr. Williams received her M.D. from Case Western Reserve University School of Medicine, was elected into the Alpha Omega Alpha Honors Society and received the outstanding student award in Cardiology. She completed both residency training in Internal Medicine and a fellowship in Nephrology at Mayo Clinic. In April 2015 she completed the Executive Leadership in Academic Medicine (ELAM) Fellowship. Her main areas of interest are in chronic and acute renal failure.
    Dr. Williams recently stepped down from being Vice Chair of the Department of Medicine and is active in many Mayo Clinic initiatives. Currently she serves on a number of top level institutional leadership committees with various governance responsibilities. These include: Personnel Committee, Rochester Electronic Medical Record and Systems Oversight Committee, Rochester Surgical and Procedural Subcommittee and the Mayo Clinic Hospital Care Delivery Platform Executive Committee. Dr. Williams served as President of Women in Nephrology and serves on the American Society of Nephrology's (ASN) ACO Task Force, ASN Public Policy Board, and ASN Metrics Task Force and chaired the ASN Quality and Safety work group. She also participated in the ASN’s Blue Ribbon Taskforce to address the workforce issues in Nephrology and enhance career development, particularly for diverse individuals. In addition she serves on the Minnesota Hospital Association CMO Executive Team.
