Overview of Dr. Wind

Dr. Joshua J. Wind, MD, FACS, FAANS is a board-certified neurosurgeon who specializes in offering minimally invasive neurosurgical solutions to patients with brain and spine conditions. He sees patients in outpatient consultation at Washington Neurosurgical Associates, a neurosurgical practice that has provided neurosurgical care in the DC area for over 50 years. Dr. Wind provides surgical and inpatient consultative care at Sibley Memorial Hospital and George Washington University Hospital.

Dr. Wind obtained his undergraduate education at the College of William and Mary in Virginia, followed by his medical school education at Stritch School of Medicine at Loyola University Chicago, where he graduated cum laude, Alpha Omega Alpha, and with honors in bioethics and professionalism. He then completed an internship in general surgery and a residency in neurosurgery at George Washington University. As part of his residency training, Dr. Wind completed a clinical and research fellowship in the Surgical Neurology Branch of the National Institute of Neurological Disorders and Stroke within the National Institutes of Health, where he obtained additional training in neuro-oncology and pituitary surgery.

Dr. Wind continues to be involved in resident education, serving as a clinical assistant professor of neurosurgery at George Washington University, as well as an adjunct assistant professor of neurosurgery at Johns Hopkins University School of Medicine. He also travels regionally and nationally to teach minimally invasive spine surgery techniques to surgeons.

Dr. Wind has extensive experience in clinical and basic science research, has co-authored several book chapters, and has written over 20 peer-reviewed publications across a breadth of topics in neurosurgery. Dr. Wind has ongoing research interests and serves as a principal investigator in several clinical trials.
