  • Dr. Michael Casey is a nephrologist specializing in kidney and pancreas transplantation. He completed his medical education at the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill School of Medicine, followed by fellowships in nephrology at Stanford University and in transplant nephrology at the California Pacific Medical Center in San Francisco. After completing his fellowships, he joined the University Florida in 2008 as a transplant nephrologist where he also earned a Masters degree in Clinical and Translational Science. In 2018, he was recruited to the Medical University of South Carolina and served as the Medical Director of the Living Kidney Donor Program. Afterwards, he became the Medical Director of the Kidney Transplant Program from 2022-2025. With expertise in transplant complications and immunosuppression, Dr. Casey has published research on COVID-19 and renal allograft rejection, the management of failed pancreas transplants, and the impact of various factors on tacrolimus use in kidney transplantation.
