Overview of  Dr. Singer

Dr. Raymond L. Singer is a board-certified cardiothoracic surgeon with more than three decades of experience dedicated to advancing excellence in cardiac surgery, clinical quality, and patient-centered care. He serves as Chief of Cardiac Surgery at Jefferson Einstein Montgomery Hospital and as Vice Chair for Quality for the Department of Cardiac Surgery at the Bruce and Robbi Toll Heart and Vascular Institute. He is a Clinical Professor of Surgery at the Sidney Kimmel College of Medicine at Thomas Jefferson University and Jefferson Health.

Dr. Singer specializes in complex adult cardiac surgery, including coronary artery bypass grafting, valve repair and replacement (including minimally invasive approaches), aortic surgery, and advanced heart failure therapies. He is known for combining meticulous surgical technique with compassionate communication, guided by a simple philosophy: treat every patient and family as if they were his own.

He earned his medical degree from the Perelman School of Medicine at the University of Pennsylvania and completed his cardiothoracic surgical training at Jefferson. Prior to returning to Montgomery, Dr. Singer spent 27 years on staff at Lehigh Valley Health Network, where he served as Chief of Cardiothoracic Surgery and helped advance program growth, clinical quality, and regional reputation.

In addition to his clinical practice, Dr. Singer holds a Master of Medical Management (MMM) and is a Certified Physician Executive (CPE). He is deeply engaged in outcomes optimization, STS performance, Vizient benchmarking, and multidisciplinary team development across the Jefferson enterprise.

Dr. Singer’s mission is to advance the science of cardiac surgery while preserving the dignity, trust, and hope of every patient he serves.
