Summary
- vinayvermamd.com
My career centers on expanding access to high-quality, evidence-based mental healthcare for underserved communities. I previously served as Director of the Rapid Access Psychiatry Clinic at MGH and as inaugural Medical Director of Vinfen’s Community Behavioral Health Center through the MGH Visiting Program, where I led teams to develop innovative programs and implement the state’s behavioral roadmap. I was also part of a new initiative delivering culturally sensitive virtual consultation-liaison services to Indigenous peoples in northwest Alaska.
Currently, I serve as Regional Medical Director for Riverside Community Care in Massachusetts, overseeing outpatient behavioral health centers, while also practicing at MGH-Boston and MGH Chelsea in primary care psychiatry, managing medically complex and treatment-resistant conditions. I also maintain a small private practice focusing on second opinions, diagnostic clarity, polypharmacy reduction, and lifestyle- and spirituality-informed care, particularly for healthcare professionals, executives, and South Asian communities.
As an educator, I precept residents and NP students and strengthen our residency QI curriculum. My professional interests include cultural psychiatry, trauma spectrum disorders, lifestyle and integrative psychiatry, minimizing polypharmacy, and optimizing systems for patient safety and provider well-being.
