Summary

  • I am a physician with over 30 years of experience, primarily in Neonatology, but also in General, Urgent Care and hospital-based Pediatrics. As Bruce Springsteen might say, I was born and raised in the USA: Oakland, California, to be specific.

I did my undergraduate work at Brigham Young University in Zoology and Microbiology and at the University of Utah School of Pharmacy. I graduated with my MD degree from the University of Utah College of Medicine, Salt Lake City, Utah, did my Pediatric Residency at University of Utah and Primary Children’s Hospitals there, and completed my Fellowship in Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine at the University of New Mexico in Albuquerque.

I am Board Certified by the American Board of Pediatrics in the specialty of Pediatrics and in the subspecialty of Neonatal-Perinatal Medicine. I am licensed to practice medicine in the State of Utah (2002 through the present).

While working with children and newborns can, at times, be discouraging when patients don’t do well despite what modern medicine has to offer, I thank God that the vast majority of these patients will do well and thrive, will go home to be with their families and grow up to be healthy and strong. So, providing medical care to these patients can be very rewarding.

Aside from patient care and working with families, the work that has been the most satisfying, and of which I am the most proud, has been that of directing the upgrade of clinic and hospital capabilities from the usual well/sick child and normal newborn care to a higher level of care.
