Overview of Dr. Mamikoglu
Dr. Bulent Mamikoglu is a fellowship-trained otologist and neurotologist specializing in disorders of the ear, hearing, balance system, and lateral skull base. He completed fellowship training in Otology/Neurotology and Skull Base Surgery at Northwestern University following fellowship training in Rhinology and Otolaryngic Allergy at the University of Chicago.
Dr. Mamikoglu's clinical practice focuses on chronic ear disease, cholesteatoma, otosclerosis, hearing loss, tinnitus, pulsatile tinnitus, vestibular disorders, dizziness, vestibular migraine, and acoustic neuroma. He has extensive experience in advanced middle ear surgery, laser stapedotomy, ossicular chain reconstruction, chronic ear surgery, and skull base procedures performed in collaboration with neurosurgical teams.
His research interests center on the relationship between cerebrospinal fluid physiology, intracranial pressure disorders, venous outflow abnormalities, hearing loss, tinnitus, and vestibular dysfunction. He serves as Principal Investigator on prospective studies examining pulsatile tinnitus and vestibular physiology and has authored numerous peer-reviewed publications in otology, neurotology, vestibular disorders, and skull base surgery, including highly cited work on acoustic neuroma surgery.
Dr. Mamikoglu currently serves as Associate Director of the Northern Region Department of Otolaryngology at Westchester Medical Center and Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at New York Medical College. He is a Fellow of the American Neurotology Society and is actively involved in clinical research, resident education, and medical student mentorship.
Outside of medicine, Dr. Mamikoglu enjoys philosophy, nature, and animal welfare. He draws inspiration from the classical traditions of Socrates, Plato, and Aristotle, emphasizing lifelong learning, intellectual curiosity, and compassionate patient care.
