- David Z. Allen, MD, is a fellowship-trained otolaryngologist–head and neck surgeon specializing in endocrine and head and neck oncology. He completed advanced fellowship training in Head and Neck–Endocrine Surgery at Emory University in June 2026 and will join New York Medical College and Westchester Medical Center in October 2026 as an Assistant Professor of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery and Director of Global ENT.
Dr. Allen’s clinical practice includes thyroid and parathyroid surgery, head and neck cancer surgery, oral cavity surgery, transoral robotic surgery, neck dissection, thermal ablation, minimally invasive and remote-access approaches, and locoregional reconstruction. He earned his medical degree from The Ohio State University College of Medicine and completed residency training in Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery at the University of Texas Health Science Center at Houston.
An active surgeon-scientist, Dr. Allen has authored more than 50 peer-reviewed publications, served as principal investigator of a prospective radiofrequency ablation clinical trial, and received grant support for clinical innovation and global surgery initiatives. His research focuses on aggressive thyroid, endocrine, salivary, and head and neck malignancies, with particular interests in molecular risk stratification, treatment selection, clinical outcomes, epidemiology, cost-effectiveness, health services research, and equitable access to specialty surgical care. His work has been recognized by the American Head and Neck Society, the American Thyroid Association, and the American Academy of Otolaryngology–Head and Neck Surgery. He was also named Resident Educator of the Year during residency.
