- He received his medical degree from Chicago College of Osteopathic Medicine at Midwestern University and has been in practice 45 years. He is experienced in treating hair disorders, alopecia, scalp reconstruction, hair transplant surgery, and female pattern hair loss.
Dr Puig has been actively involved in the practice of hair restoration surgery since 1973. A founding Member of the American Academy of Cosmetic Surgery (AACS), International Society of Hair Restoration Surgery (ISHRS), and the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery (ABHRS). Over the years Puig has contributed many textbook chapters, presented papers, workshops and surgical demonstrations on many hair restoration topics. Dr. Puig is a Fellow of both ISHRS and the AACS, and a Diplomate and Past President of the American Board of Hair Restoration Surgery. Dr. Puig has served as chair of the ISHRS Fellowship Training Committee, Core Curriculum Committee, and the Society’s President.
In 2012 Dr. Puig recognized by the ISHRS for his contributions to the profession in teaching, service and leadership with the Golden Follicle Award. Dr. Puig practices in Houston and Chicago, and continues to offer an internationally recognized hair restoration surgery fellowship training program.
Dr. Carlos Puig is also emergency physician in affiliated with St. Michael's Elite Hospital, in Sugar Land Texas.
