Overview of  Dr. Rozen

Dr. Shai M. Rozen, MD is a Professor and Vice-Chair of Research and Development in the Department of Plastic Surgery at The University of Texas Southwestern Medical Center in Dallas, Texas, and Director of the Microsurgery and Facial Palsy Program — one of the largest facial reanimation programs in the United States.
Dr. Rozen specializes in facial paralysis, synkinesis, microsurgery, advanced facelift and neck lift surgery, eyelid surgery, and nose surgery and is among a small number of surgeons worldwide who focus exclusively on these conditions. His practice treats patients from all 50 states and internationally. Conditions treated include synkinesis following Bell's palsy, Ramsay Hunt syndrome, and acoustic neuroma surgery. Reconstructive procedures include selective neurectomies, selective myectomies, gracilis free muscle transfer, masseteric-to-facial nerve transfer, and cross-facial nerve grafting. Cosmetic procedures include facelift, neck lift, eyelid surgery, and rhinoplasty.
Dr. Rozen has published over 100 peer-reviewed articles and book chapters, received NIH and private foundation funding, and delivered more than 200 invited lectures internationally. He has trained 10 microsurgery fellows and more than 100 residents. His research group at UT Southwestern has produced landmark studies on synkinesis pathophysiology, intraoperative facial nerve mapping, and surgical outcomes for facial paralysis.
In addition to his reconstructive practice, Dr. Rozen performs facelift, neck lift, blepharoplasty, and rhinoplasty. His familiarity with facial nerve anatomy — developed through close to a thousand facial paralysis surgeries — informs every aesthetic procedure he performs.
Dr. Rozen is a Fellow of the American College of Surgeons (FACS), a member of the American Society of Plastic Surgeons and the American Society for Reconstructive Microsurgery, and President-Elect of the American Society for Peripheral Nerve (2027).
