- Dr. Aly is a professor of plastic surgery and Director of Post Bariatric Plastic Surgery at University of Texas Southwestern in Dallas. He is considered a pioneer of body contouring after massive weight loss. He published the first textbook on post bariatric plastic surgery entitled “Body Contouring After Massive Weight Loss”, which is considered the “bible” on the subject. He has lectured and/or performed surgical demonstrations in over 36 countries and is considered by many as the world’s foremost authority on plastic surgery after massive weight loss. He is Editor-in-Chief of the Aesthetic Surgery Journal Open Forum. He is past president of the Aesthetic Surgery Education & Research Foundation (ASERF). Dr. Aly has received the “Lockwood Award”, the most prestigious award given by the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery (currently The Aesthetic Society) to surgeons that have made major contributions to the field of body contouring.
