  • Charles J. Lockwood, MD, is Dean of the Morsani College of Medicine, EVP of USF Health and Tampa General Hospital. Previously he served as dean of the Ohio State College of Medicine; chair of Ob/Gyn at the Yale and NYU schools of medicine; and interim director of the NYU Cancer Center. He graduated from Brown Univ., magna cum laude, received his M.D. from the Univ. of Pennsylvania and a MS in Healthcare Management from the Harvard School of Public Health. He served a residency in Ob/Gyn at Pennsylvania Hospital and a fellowship in Maternal-Fetal Medicine at Yale. He completed a postdoctoral fellowship at Mt. Sinai School of Medicine. He has garnered multiple NIH, foundation, and state grants. He has authored over 320 peer-reviewed publications, 293 chapters, reviews and editorials (H-index 91; 32,616 citations), 3 monographs, and co-edited 6 obstetrical textbooks, 3 with multiple editions. He is section editor for UpToDate Obstetrics. He has served on multiple editorial boards and as Editor-in-Chief of Contemporary OB/GYN garnered 6 national publication awards for his editorials. He was a past chair of the American College of Obstetricians and Gynecologists (ACOG) Committee on Obstetrical Practice and Document Review (Obstetrics) committees. He is a past President of the Society for Reproductive Investigation (SRI) and the American Gynecological and Obstetrical Society. He has been a member of multiple FDA advisory committees, NIH study sections/review panels and serves on the LCME. Dr. Lockwood is a member of the Phi Beta Kappa, Sigma Xi and Alpha Omega Alpha honor societies, and is an elected a fellow of the American Association for the Advancement of Science and the National Academy of Medicine. He has received SRI's President's Distinguished Scientist Award, the Society for Maternal Fetal Medicine Lifetime Achievement Award, and ACOG's 2019 Public Service Award. He serves on the LCME and has been cited “Best Doctors” lists for the last two decades.
