- Dr. Clifton Gooch is Professor and Chair of Neurology at the University of South Florida Morsani College of Medicine, Vice President for Clinical and Translational Research at Tampa General Hospital (TGH), Chief of the TGH Neuroscience Institute, and the TGH Endowed Chair in Neurology.
A national leader in his field, Dr. Gooch has served as President of the Association of University Professors of Neurology, Treasurer of the American Neurological Association and on the Boards of Directors for the AUPN, the ANA, the AANEM, and the National ALS Association.
Under his leadership, USF Neurology has become one of the top departments in the US for human therapeutic research, averaging 150 active clinical and translational research studies each year. USF Neurology is also one of the busiest and best departments in the country, providing cutting edge clinical care, superlative medical education and outstanding residency and fellowship training.
Dr. Gooch has a major interest in human therapeutic research with a personal focus on developing new and better therapies for neurological disease, particularly in the neurodegenerative and neuromuscular disorders.
