David Gutman MD

Summary

• Dr. Gutman received his B.A. from the University of Pennsylvania, his medical degree from New York University, and completed his residency in psychiatry at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute, where he was chief resident. He then completed a three-year research fellowship at Columbia University/New York State Psychiatric Institute where he worked on neurophysiological systems underlying anxiety disorders and deception with PET, fMRI, and physiological markers. Since then Dr. Gutman has also served as the Associate Director of the Columbia Presbyterian Inpatient Unit and Director of Psychopharmacology at Columbia University Medical Center Eastside.
  
  In addition, Dr. Gutman has pursued his interests in psychotherapy and personality with the Psychodynamic Psychotherapy Program and Adult Psychoanalysis Program at the Columbia University Center for Psychoanalytic Training and Research. He is trained as a psychoanalyst and is on the faculty of the Columbia Psychoanalytic center.
  
  Clinically, Dr. Gutman is interested in the intersection between neurobiology and psychology and maintains a general practice of psychiatry, psychopharmacology and psychotherapy. Dr. Gutman specializes in the treatment of individuals with mood, anxiety, and attention disorders.
  
  Dr. Gutman has also taught a wide range of trainees from medical students to senior residents. This has included teaching clinical interviewing, pharmacology, ADHD case presentations, and supervising residents on their clinical cases.
