- David Hunstad, MD, is a Saint Louis-based specialist in Pediatric Infectious Diseases. He currently serves as Chief of Pediatric Infectious Diseases (since 2015), Vice Chair for Basic Research in the Department of Pediatrics, and the Arnold W. Strauss, MD, Endowed Professor for Mentoring at WashU Medicine. His NIH-funded research laboratory focuses on pathogenesis of urinary tract infections caused by uropathogenic Escherichia coli and other organisms. He has published over 80 papers in an array of journals. He is recognized as a Fellow by both the Infectious Diseases Society of America and the Pediatric Infectious Diseases Society.
