• With more than 2.5 decades of professional experience, Dr. Wexler has had a variety of roles in mental health. His expertise is in biological psychiatry and psychopharmacology. He is currently integrating functional medicine into his practice philosophy and approach to care.
  
  Dr. Wexler has worked as a private practitioner, as staff psychiatrist -- in-patient and out-patient -- in a number of healthcare systems nationally and internationally, as Director of Consultation/Liaison Services, as team psychiatrist for an NFL franchise, as physician wellness psychiatrist for a large managed care consortium, and as Director of a university teaching hospital's psychopharmacology clinic. He strives to remain state of the science, having held -- and currently holding -- academic positions at several medical schools, and having served as a web-based psychiatric consultant for primary care physicians and other medical specialists.
  
  Dr. Wexler emphasizes collaboration with a patient's treatment team, notably one's therapist, primary care physician, and other involved specialists. This he believes is paramount to optimizing quality of healthcare and, in turn, to treatment outcome.
  
  Beyond his professional endeavors, Dr. David B. Wexler enjoys playing the oboe and piano, keeping fit, learning foreign languages, and traveling. He is currently studying Mandarin, which he was fortunate to use while in practice in China.
