  • Dimitrios P. Kontoyiannis, MD, ScD, PhD (Hon), is the Robert C Hickey Chair in Clinical Care and Deputy Head for Research in the Division of Internal Medicine at The University of Texas MD Anderson Cancer Center. I received my medical degree Summa Cum Laude from the National and Kapodistrian University of Athens, Greece and trained in Internal Medicine at Baylor College of Medicine in Houston, TX, where I served as a Chief Medical Resident. I was subsequently trained as a clinical fellow in Infectious Diseases at Massachusetts General Hospital and obtained a Master in Clinical Sciences from Harvard Medical School in Boston and I spent 3 years at the Whitehead Institute for Biomedical Sciences/Massachusetts Institute of Technology as a fellow in the Harvard MIT Clinical Investigators Training Program. I am considered the leading expert in mycology world-wide (expertscape.com) and among the 1-2 most highly cited investigators in the area of mycology with over 600 peer-reviewed publications and 51000 citations and an H index of 111 (Google Scholar) and in the 1% list of most influential/cited researchers in the biomedical field (Web of Science). I have had a funded laboratory and clinical program in mycology in the last 22 years. I am the recipient of many institutional, national and international awards in research/clinical care, education and mentoring and I am fellow of many honorific societies(see CV). I would be interested to explore relevant and interesting leadership position in Internal Medicine, Infectious Diseases or academia (e.g., Chief of Medicine, Vice Provost, etc) in a prestigious academic center that capitalize of my 22 year multi-faceted and successful experience as a clinical research-oriented faculty at a tertiary care academic center.
