He is the first graduate of the formal doctorate program in Cell and Tissue Engineering under the mentorship of Rocky Tuan Branch Chief of NAIMS at NIH. He specializes in Craniofacial surgery, burn reconstruction, and is experienced in craniosynostosis, facial plastic and reconstructive surgery, head and neck oncology and microvascular reconstruction, pediatric plastic surgery. He has more than 100 publications and over 500 citings and was the craniofacial surgeon on the Harvard Medical School Face transplant team that has performed more face transplantations than any other center. After a decade of adult craniofacial surgery at Harvard Medical School he shifted back to his first love of surgery with an emphasis on children born with cleft lip and palate, shifting his practice to a dedicated pediatric center to build the cleft and craniofacial center at Nemours Childrens Hospital in Wilmington, Delaware.
