  • Fernando J. Manalac, Jr., M.D., MMM, FACP, CAQSM, CMQ is a fellowship-trained sports medicine physician, triple board certified in Internal Medicine and Sports Medicine by the American Board of Internal Medicine and board certified in Medical Quality by the American Board of Medical Quality. Originally from Steubenville, Ohio, he completed his Bachelor of Science in 1997 at Robert Morris University while playing football for the Colonials. He went on to complete his Doctorate in Medicine at St. George's University School of Medicine in 2005. Dr. Manalac then went on to complete his internship and residency in Internal Medicine, as well as a fellowship in Primary Care Sports Medicine at Allegheny General Hospital in Pittsburgh. During fellowship, Dr. Manalac was on medical staff with the Pittsburgh Pirates. During that time, he expanded his expertise by completing a Master of Medical Management, with a focus on medical quality, at Carnegie Mellon University, Heinz School of Policy and Management. Following sports medicine fellowship, Dr. Manalac took a position with a private sports medicine group in Chicago, IL. He, then, accepted a position with Holy Cross Orthopedic Institute, where he now serves as the Medical Director of Primary Care Sports Medicine. He specializes in conservative management of musculoskeletal conditions including, fractures, degenerative joints, sprains and strains, and other sports related injuries, including concussion. He is the program director of the Running Medicine and Sports Concussion programs, as well as the Head Team Physician for the Fort Lauderdale Strikers FC. In addition to clinical and administrative duties, he also serves as Clincial Director of Non-Op Sports Medicine GME for the University of Miami at Holy Cross Internal Medicine Program, is a core faculty member for the program, and as such, has a faculty appointment with the University of Miami Miller School of Medicine.
