- Dr. H. Gordon Deen received his undergraduate degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology and his medical degree from the University of South Alabama with Honors. He completed residency training in Neurological Surgery at Mayo Clinic under the direction of Dr. Thoralf Sundt. Dr. Deen serves as Consultant in the department of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic Jacksonville and Professor of Neurosurgery in the Mayo Clinic School of Medicine.
Dr. Deen’s major clinical interest is complex spinal surgery. In addition to maintaining a busy surgical practice, Dr. Deen is very active in education and clinical research, and has lectured extensively throughout the world. His curriculum vitae lists more than 100 publications, including one full-length textbook on spinal surgery.
Dr. Deen is a member of the Neurosurgical Society of America; and currently serves as on the Editorial Board of Spine; Board of Directors, Neurosurgery Outreach Foundation; Board of Directors, NREF Spinal Cord Injury Research Fund; and the Ismar RAND-UCLA study group on vertebral insufficiency fractures.
In his free time, Dr. Deen enjoys travel and spending time with his family.
