  • Ronald Reimer, M.D. is an Associate Professor of Neurosurgery at Mayo Clinic in Jacksonville, Florida, starting his career at this facility when it first opened in August 1986. He received both his B.S. in Interdisciplinary Biologic Medicine in 1976 and his Medical Degree in 1980 from the University of Florida in Gainesville. He completed his General Surgery internship at Tulane University at Charity Hospital in New Orleans, Louisiana in 1981 and his Neurologic Surgery Residency at the Mayo Graduate School of Medicine in Rochester, Minnesota in 1986. Dr. Reimer has also pursued specialty training in Image Guided surgery of the brain and spine, Advanced Orbital Surgery Techniques, Endoscopic Neurosurgery and Medical (Neuroanatomic) Acupuncture. He is the former Director of the Brain Tumor Division and presently the Director of the Neurosurgery Pain Division at the Mayo Clinic in Florida. His areas of special interest are image-guided surgery of the brain and spine, treatment of benign and malignant brain tumors, pituitary surgery, and surgical management of facial pain, particularly trigeminal neuralgia. He was the President of the Officers and Councilors at the Mayo Clinic in Florida in 2018. He is one of the only neurosurgeons in the world to be certified in medical acupuncture. Since obtaining his Acupuncture license at Helms Medical Institute 19 years ago, he has utilized acupuncture for the management of refractory autonomic dysfunction, post-operative ileus, and nausea and vomiting, particularly in solid organ transplant patients, with overall excellent results.
