Dr. James Underberg, MD
Dr. Underberg is a Clinical Assistant Professor of Medicine at NYU School of Medicine and the NYU Center for Prevention of Cardiovascular Disease. He is the Director of the Bellevue Hospital Lipid Clinic. He received his undergraduate and graduate degrees from Yale University, and attended medical school at the University of Pennsylvania. His Internship and residency were done at NYU/Bellevue Medical Center in NYC.
Dr. Underberg is a Past-President of the National Lipid Association and the American Board of Clinical Lipidology. He is a Fellow of the American College of Physicians, a Master of the National Lipid Association and Immediate past-president of the Foundation of the National Lipid Association. He serves on the editorial board of the Journal of Clinical Lipidology and is a section editor of Current Atherosclerosis Reports. Dr Underberg has also served on the scientific advisory board of the FH Foundation and the Triglyceride Alliance.
Dr. Underberg’s Clinical Interests focus on the clinical management of patients with lipids and lipoprotein disorders, and cardiovascular disease prevention. He maintains an active clinical research program in these areas and has authored numerous articles and book chapters in the field of clinical lipidology.
He sees patients both at Bellevue Hosptial and in a University Affiliated Private practice setting.
