Summary

  • I engaged in research throughout my career, beginning with basic science research and clinical research during medical school and then residency at the University of Florida (completed in 1989). As a principal investigator or sub-investigator in more than one hundred clinical trials, I was involved in studying various neurological diseases, while maintaining a highly active neurology and sleep medicine clinical practice until 2020. I have also had the pleasure of being an assistant professor participating in training residents from the University of Central Florida College of Medicine for several years. Clinical research became a full-time endeavor from June of 2020 to March of 2021 as a principal investigator for several Alzheimer’s disease studies and as a sub-investigator for three Covid-19 vaccine trials. From May of 2021 until January of 2023, I was an IQVIA CRO (Contract Research Organization) medical director and medical advisor/monitor overseeing multiple worldwide clinical trials and collaborating with high profile sponsors at various stages of protocol development. These clinical trials mainly addressed Alzheimer’s disease, narcolepsy, idiopathic hypersomnia, and sleep apnea and included the study of novel technology for monitoring sleep apnea. I changed positions and have joined Argenx, an excellent small, but worldwide, pharmaceutical company developing important new therapies for neurological diseases. At Argenx I am working full-time, mostly remotely from Ocala, Florida where I live with my wife, Holly.
