Summary

Welcome to the Glaucoma Care Center at Valley Eye Professionals. I have provided university level, subspecialty glaucoma care throughout the Philadelphia region for more than 25 years. I work with every patient to individualize care by understanding each patient's lifestyle and specific needs. I incorporate the newest technologies to help each patient attain and retain their best vision.

I have been certified by the American Board of Ophthalmology since 1991, am a member of Wills Glaucoma Service and a Clinical Professor of Ophthalmology at the Perelman School of Medicine of the University of Pennsylvania. Over my 25 year career, I have been a clinician, educator and researcher. As director of the glaucoma service at the University of Pennsylvania for 15 years, I trained glaucoma fellows and resident ophthalmologists. I currently teach residents at both the Wills Eye Hospital and the Scheie Eye Institute. I have served on numerous academic committees for the American Glaucoma Society and the American Academy of Ophthalmology and was honored to receive a Senior Achievement award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology. I have received the “Best Doctors in America” recognition for more than a decade, received the Patient Choice Award yearly since 2011 and was chosen by Philadelphia Magazine as a “Top Doc for Seniors”.

As a clinical researcher, I have been a principal investigator for major clinical trials including the Ocular Hypertension Treatment Study, the Collaborative Initial Glaucoma Treatment Study, and the Low Tension Glaucoma Treatment Study. I have authored more than 100 articles and book chapters on glaucoma.
