- John M. Flack, MD, MPH is an Internal Medicine and Hypertension specialist/cardiovascular epidemiologist based in Springfield, IL. He completed his education at the University of Oklahoma College of Medicine and his residency in Internal Medicine at the University of Oklahoma Health Sciences Center where he was elected to the Alpha Omega Alpha Honor Society. Dr. Flack also served as Chief Medicine Resident at the University of Oklahoma. Dr. Flack has over 250 peer-reviewed publications in the field of hypertension, hypertension therapeutics, hypertension in African Americans, resistant/refractory hypertension and device-based hypertension treatments. His research focuses on these same areas. He is an Associate Editor at the journal Hypertension, the premier hypertension journal in the world. Dr. Flack also authored the chapter on Arterial Hypertension in the current edition of Goldman-Cecils textbook of Medicine. Dr. Flack has been recognized with honors such as Regional Top Doctor, Best Doctor, Super Doctor, Crain's Health Care Hero and Michiganian of the Year. He is the Sergio Rabinovich Endowed Chair of Internal Medicine and the Chair of the Departments of Medicine and Population Science and Policy at Southern Illinois University. Dr. Flack also serves as President of the American Hypertension Specialist Certification Program.
