  • Dr. Chango obtained his medical degree at the Catholic University of Cuenca, Ecuador. He completed his Internal Medicine Residency at the University of Connecticut and became a Chief Medical Resident in preparation for a future academic career. He is a Hematology and Oncology Fellow at the Boston University Medical Center.

He is interested in classical hematology, particularly hemostasis, thrombosis, and immune-related cytopenias. His long-term goal is to become an academic physician with participation in clinical research and medical education. As a clinician, he aims to serve patients from different social and cultural backgrounds with dedication, ensuring patient-centered care with quality and compassion. He provides bilingual services to English and Spanish-speaking patients. As an international graduate, he is committed to addressing health disparities in his practice and research activities, hoping his research work can impact patients' lives on a larger scale.

Dr. Chango served as the 2021-2022 UCONN ASCO Oncology Student Interest Group (OSIG) president to provide networking opportunities for students and residents and get to know the oncology field. He is interested in using technology in medicine for networking and teaching. He founded two educational websites, ecuadoctors.com (a blog created to share experiences for the US Medical Residency application process and mentorship of International Medical Graduates) and classicalhematology.com (an academic website focused on creating educational materials in non-malignant hematology). Furthermore, he led the creation of the "UCONN IM Podcast" as an alternative resource for teaching residents and medical students.

In his spare time, he enjoys outdoor activities, sports (soccer, tennis), music (playing guitar, singing), and spending time with family.
