- Karthik Ponnusamy, M.D., M.S.E. is a Board Certified Orthopaedic Surgeon, fellowship trained in hip and knee replacements. He specializes in arthroscopy, hip and knee conditions, total and partial knee replacements, total hip replacements (including the direct anterior approach), and general orthopaedics. He is Board Certified by the American Board of Orthopaedic Surgeons and sees patients in offices in Canton and Woodstock.
Dr. Ponnusamy received his Medical Degree from Stanford University following a Master of Science Degree and a Bachelor of Science Degree both in Biomedical Engineering with honors from Johns Hopkins University. He then completed his residency in orthopaedic surgery also from Johns Hopkins University. After residency, he completed a Hip and Knee Replacement Fellowship at the University of Western Ontario. During his fellowship, he received additional training and earned a Master of Science in Surgery.
Dr. Ponnusamy has contributed significant research to the medical community including >30 national/international presentations and >20 peer-reviewed publications on stem cells, tissue engineering, robotic surgery, and perioperative patient management. He currently reviews articles for the Journal of Arthroplasty. He also has numerous awards and honors including the Ronald Byank Chief Resident Servant Leadership Award, Chief Resident Research Award, and Rhodes Scholar Finalist.
