Summary

  • I am a physician scientist who has focused my clinical practice and research studies on the disease cystic fibrosis (CF), with the goal of better understanding chronic bacterial airway infections and associated inflammation that occur in this patient population. I grew up in Berkeley, California, received my Bachelor of Science in Biochemistry from Brown University, and then moved to Manhattan to pursue graduate training at the Tri-Institutional MD, PhD Program. I received my PhD in Infection Biology from Rockefeller University in 2004, and my MD degree from Weill Medical College of Cornell in 2006. I then performed internship and residency in Internal Medicine at Columbia University Medical Center. In 2016 I moved to Seattle to enroll in University of Washington's fellowship training program in Pulmonary, Critical Care, and Sleep Medicine. Here I discovered my passion for helping treat patient with cystic fibrosis, and for better understanding the mechanisms that drive non-resolving airway inflammation in these patients. I joined the faculty at University of Washington in 2016, focusing my clinical practice on care of people with cystic fibrosis. I also trained residents and cared for patients in the multiple intensive care units at University of Washington and Harborview Medical Center.

    In 2019, I moved to Denver where I joined the faculty at National Jewish Health (NJH) as an Assistant Professor in the division of Adult Pulmonary, Critical Care and Sleep Medicine. NJH has the largest adult cystic fibrosis clinic in the country, and I will continue to treat adult patients with CF (in both the clinic and in NJH's dedicated inpatient CF service) at NJH. I will also build a research program focused on how heterogeneous monocyte and macrophage populations contribute to chronic pulmonary diseases.
