- Dr. Lisa Kachnic is a distinguished Radiation Oncologist based in New York, NY. She completed her radiation oncology residency at Massachusetts General Hospital/Harvard Medical School post graduating from Tufts University School of Medicine. She currently practices Columbia University where she is Professor and Chair as well as one of the Associate Directors of the Herbert Irving NCI Comprehensive Cancer Center. Dr. Kachnic is actively involved in the National Cancer Institute’s (NCI) adult oncology research cooperative groups, including NRG Oncology’s (National Surgical Adjuvant Breast & Bowel Project, Radiation Therapy Oncology Group and the Gynecological Oncology Group) Gastrointestinal (GI) strategic committee where she is also the Associate PI chair of their NCI Community Oncology Research Program (NCORP) and chair of its Cancer Control and Prevention Division. Kachnic also serves as Anorectal co-chairperson for the Southwest Oncology Group (SWOG), where she is also the Multi-modality Executive Officer. She is also a member of the NCI GI Steering Committee. Importantly, her NCI clinical trials have changed the standard of care in several GI malignancies, most notably anal cancer. Her achievements are recognized by multiple honors including America's Top Doctors, Castle Connolly, Boston and New York Magazine and US News Top Doc awards.
