• Marguerite McDonald, MD, FACS is an ophthalmologist based in Oceanside, NY, specializing in cataracts, cornea and external diseases, and refractive surgery. She is also a clinical professor of ophthalmology at NYU and an adjunct professor of ophthalmology at Tulane. She completed her medical education at Columbia University and her residency at the Manhattan Eye and Ear Hospital. She then finished a cornea fellowship at LSU Eye Center in New Orleans. Her clinical expertise includes Sjogren's syndrome, cataracts, allergic conjunctivitis, refractive surgery, and LASIK. Dr McDonald performed the world's first laser vision correction procedure in 1988. She has published over 1800 articles in peer-reviewed and non-peer reviewed journals, and participated in clinical trials focusing on refractive surgery, dry eye treatment, night vision disturbances, and more. She has been recognized with awards such as the membership in 2023 in the ASCRS Ophthalmology Hall of Fame, the Presidential Award from the American Academy of Ophthalmology and the Dulaney Award from the American College of Surgeons.
